Hanukkah reception at Altmans Gallery
A Hanukkah reception was held at the Romanov Dvor gallery on December 11. This year Jews will start celebrating the festival of lights on December 22, but gallery and its colleagues decided to prepare for this important event in advance.
Altmans Gallery together with the Eli Gervits Israeli Bar Association, with the participation of the Israeli Embassy and the Russian Jewish Congress, held a reception in the gallery in honor of the big event. The Candlelight Festival - Hanukkah - is a holiday that marks the victory of light over darkness, the triumph of purity and sincerity. Rabbi Alexander Lyskovoy reminded the guests about the history and traditions of Hanukkah and congratulated everyone on one of the most important Jewish holidays. A bright festive evening is the best time for good deeds: we decided to re-implement the charity initiative - we held an auction at which we presented Marc Chagall's lithograph from the Bible series, as well as the unique work of the world-famous Israeli hoaxer Uri Geller, which he had created specially for Hanukkah celebration in our gallery. The proceeds from the works' sale were used to support and develop the projects of the Moscow Center for Progressive Judaism and the Le-Dor Va-Dor community.
We congratulate all those, who celebrate Hanukkah, on a bright holiday!
